Transformers Animated Optimus Prime (Part 2)

Transformers Animated Voyager Class Optimus Prime (Takaratomy)

This is probably one of the best made Optimus Prime in my opinion. You will see why.

In terms of cartoon accurate, I would give it a 10/10.  The reason why it warrants a 10 is because when you look at how the cartoon figure is drawn, the proportions of the entire figure is ridiculous. My very 1st thought is whether Hasbro can come out with anything close given such ridiculous proportion since Hasbro had been pretty lazy in keeping accurate figures recently . That being said, the toy figure turns out really well. I have to give credit to the designer for capturing the accents of the cartoon figure.

The figure is almost fully painted with high gloss paint, a move to  differentiate from the cheaper priced Hasbro version. To be honest, I rather pay more for a fully painted figure. The plastic off the mold nowadays are cheap looking and dull.

From the front, the figure looks bulky on the upper body like a professional weight lifter. This is to stay close with the cartoon figure in the series which in my optional is a good move from Hasbro.

The figure follows the cartoon figure with a heavily build upper body, small torso area all the way down to the thighs and again heavy at the legs.

As we all know, the Optimus Prime in the animated series is able to retract his mouth-plate during "peace" time. I would wonder if Hasbro will do a figure that has this feature similar to the Galaxy force series since they are unable to do it in the recent Movie series.

Yes. It came to my surprise that the mouth-plate is retractable. I wondered why so much effort is put into this figure as it is only TV cartoon series compared to the movie series where a mouth-plate is more relevant.

The retraction action of the mouth-plate can be activated from the level just above the neck area.

Watch the eyes glow as light were guided into the eye area through the light pipes behind the head. A feature that is quite standard in recently days.

The fully painted pointy shoulders is a trademark from the cartoon Optimus Prime figure in the TV series. Takaratomy had also include the Autobot logo on the left shoulder. Something which the Hasbro version is missing.

The body is very well sculptured with clean contours matching the exact look of the cartoon figure.

The arms  are also fully painted.

The lower limbs are well design with every parts clipped to one another. The spring loaded wheels and how it twist to position comes as a surprise something that is not seen before. The only negative point is the sole which had half circular patterns which to me looks kid of girly.

The figure is highly articulated. Just on the shoulders to the arms, there are 4 joints. The torso to legs also had similar articulation which made the figure very pose-able and fun to play with.

You can lift the arms up like a bird flying. This type of articulation is something that is seldom seen in recent times.

Another added feature found is that the transformed Ion axe can be attached to the back of the figure making it look like wings.

A look from the front.

The Ion axe looks well oversize due to the fact that it transforms from the semi-trailer of the cab rear.
