Fall of Cybertron Exclusive Grimlock (Part 1)

This is the much waited repaint version of the Fall of Cybertron Grimlock that is as part of the Platinum Series Grimlock VS Bruticus Exclusive set. This repaint version is especially nice looking and kudos to Hasbro for outdoing the Takara release for the first time.

Alternate T-Rex mode

One clear difference in this repaint compared to the precious release is the amazing gold chrome finish. It reminds me of the type of finishing on the Masterpiece MP08X King Grimlock and Henkei Grimlock.

A look at the tail section and you will find that its especially big and 'thick' looking. This is far from what we had seen on the WFC Grimlock in the game. There is zero articulation on the tail section as it forms part of the lower limbs in robot mode.

The amount of details on Grimlock is breath taking. They are well placed and not too complex. Great amount of details and yet not too messy.

Small sections of red paint apps can be seen at several areas to enhance the details mainly on the joints and the hip areas. The red apps add on give much life to the greyish dull mold and make the overall outlook standout.

Other than the red paint apps, there are some other paint done on Grimlock. The gold chrome on the neck and back of Grimlock. Red on several small features and dull gold on the tail sections.

The one place that looks a little odd is the front crawl where a light grey unpainted plastic piece is being spotted.

Lets take a closer look at the details.

Details:

Front and back

Side

Lots of details on the top and tail section of Grimlock.

Autobot logo on top of his dino mode head.

The chrome areas on the back of Grimlock featured some nice rivet details on the edge of the joints. Another logo can be found there which seems like a fusion between the autobot logo and the dinobots. The entire back piece had lots of transparent clear red plastics.

Neck and head of Gimlock from the side. Nice details with added red for enhancement. I spotted several 'capital I' shape design on on the joint which looks pretty cool.

The above is the hip area and the 'capitial I' shape joint I mentioned earlier.

A look from the bottom of Grimlock and you will find that the body and tail is hollow like a nut shell. It probably looks to be some cost cutting measures at first thoughts but it prove not to be the case as you look further.

Gimmicks & Accessories:

Grimlock comes with his energon sword and shield. Both can be mounted onto the toy itself at several areas e.g. the hip which can be seen above.

Energon sword.

Energon Shield

What will Grimlock be without the T-Rex flames. Here, Hasbro added a red LED light at the throat section. The result is an effect of burning red flames bursting out from the mouth when activated. The transparent red sections got lighted up as well.

The effect is even better under dim lights.

The Transformation:

The transformation is typical of Grimlock and is a reminiscent of his G1 toy with the feets forming the arms and tail forming the legs. Nothing special. The only thing that really bothers me is the ratchet joints that are extremely tight and everytime I try to turn it, the plastic part holding the other side seems like breaking.

Transformation completed!

Overall the Dino mode of the repaint WFC Grimlock looks awesome and is much better looking than the previous release.
