Universe 2.0 Galvatron (Part 1)

This week review is Galvatron from the Universe Series.

Tank mode:

It came to my surprise when I saw how small (deluxe class) this Galvatron turns out to be. The news of a new mold for Galvatron excites me and I was hoping Hasbro can reinstate Galvatron as the imposing figure like the one in the Energon Series which to me is the best Galvatron ever made after G1. Sad to say, none of it happen.

As you can see, his alternate mode is chosen to be a battle tank. The core design of him came from Israel's Merkava Mk. 3B Battle tank with some details modified to give a more futuristic outlook particularly around the turret areas.

The color scheme of Galvatron has close reminiscent to his G1 self (dark grey body, purple, orange) particularly the translucent orange barrel which is a nice touch to remake the G1 look.

Details:

The amount of fine details on this little deluxe toy is mind blowing.

From the side, you can find even more details. The silvery painted air vent panels on the side, the rollers for the tracks, the missile carrier and of cos the well defined armor panel details are just too impressive. There is also a paint app on the left side of his turret that reads "GALV-25". This is in reference to his name and the 25th anniversary for the Franchise.

Unlike most tank design, this turret can be rotate 360 degrees.

Galvatron comes with a translucent orange missile that can be launched from the barrel. All you need to do is to insert the missile into the barrel and shoot it by pressing the orange button at the end of the barrel.

3rd mode:

Rumors of a 3rd mode is true. Apparently this had been scraped off for whatever reasons. Click on the picture above to go to the original discussion from toymanic.

This is how it looks in the 3rd mode. Seems to me this mode is a fusion between tank and robot. Frankly speaking, I don't see why this mode is needed, a tanks with legs? Maybe a different mode like battle station will serve more purpose.

Transformation:

For a deluxe class figure, the difficulty level certainly exceeds expectations. This is especially so for the turret and the legs sections. There are also some strange areas where transformation seems to redundant like the hook on his left shoulder. I suspect they are meant for the 3rd mode.

Stay tune for more of Galvatron in Robot mode.
