Cybertron / Galaxy Force Backgild (Part 1)

This week will review on Backgild from the Galaxy Force series.

In one of the episode,  Scattershot; a scout class warrior together with his compatriot, Red Alert and Excellion suffered heavy near death damage from the ruthless Megatron. Thanks to Primus, all three were reformatted and Scattershot was reborned as Backgild.

The reformatted three namely First Gunner (reformatted of Red Alert), Backgild (reformatted of Scattershot) and Exigeyser (reformatted of excellion) eventually form the Vanguard Team.

Backgild's alternate mode is a multi-rocket launcher attack vehicle that has some similarities to the Russian TOS-1. The vehicle features a 22 slot missile ports as well as a front mount mine clearing blade system that is design to clear buried land mines. On the left front of the vehicle, you can also find a dark blue single seated armored personnel compartment which is a nice addition to the design.

Like all Galaxy Force figures, there is a slot for the cyber key to be inserted. Here you can see that Backgild has not one but two slots on the rear of his missile launchers unit. Despite that, we are still given only one cyber key.

This is a comparison of Backgild original version and its reformatted version. Note the size difference from a scout class to a voyager class.

Also note the similar color scheme for both versions. His main body is in blue with side panels painted silver. The mine blade system and single seated armored personnel compartment are in dark blue. The cantilever of the launchers are in mixture of brown and black with some areas painted gold. The launchers itself are in grey with gold and black paint apps on some details.

The launcher can be lifted up and rotate around its axis increasing the amount of playability to this war vehicle. The lifting of the launchers however expose the fists of Backgild which in my opinion should have been better deal with by Hasbro.

Front and back:

A closer look on the details from the front and back.

Details:

Left: Mine clearing blade system
Right: Single seated armored personnel compartment

Good details on the launchers with part of the golden warheads exposed. Also notice on the left side of the unit, there is an Autobot logo with wings at the sides. This logo is actually the Vanguard Team logo.

On the sides of the vehicle, there are a series of silver paint apps that brings out the nicely designed panel and rivet details. At the bottom, the track drive system had very fine details of each and every trackers.

Force Ignition Gimmick:

Left: Cyber key. Given that there are 2 slots, I find it rather strange that Hasbro is only giving one key.
Right: 2 available slots for the keys to slot in.

Upon inserting of the cyber key into the right slot, the surface to air/surface to surface electromagnetic pulse missile pops out of the compartment.

Upon inserting of the cyber key into the left slot, the Mega-watt Class laser pops out of the compartment.

Transformation:

Transforming Backgild is very simple. The launchers split into 2 forming the arms and the front of the vehicle splits to form the legs.

Next week, a review of Backgild in robot mode
