Cybertron / Galaxy Force Vector Prime (Part 2)

This week, Vector Prime in robot mode

Robot mode:

Vector Prime is a voyager size figure and is modeled as a warrior knight in his robot mode. He wears a light grey armor which covers him from head to toe. The light grey armor might look plain at first glance but upon a closer look at it, you will find it possess some fabulous details that made him looks majestic instead of a foot soldier.

From the rear, you can see that his cape is actually transformed from his space craft wings. Very smart move by the designer. Also on the rear is the entire nosecone that folds and snap to his back.

The Force ignition key slot sits in front of his belt when he is in robot mode. As explained last week, there isn't much physical change when the key is inserted.

Front & Back view:

Head shot:

Vector Prime's face has close resemblance to the Autobot Logo. I wonder if there is any history to how the logo is created. His face is green in color and his features are very distinct and sharp. He looks to be wearing a brown helmet that goes well with the colors on his chest and forearms.

Look at the fine details on him. Also notice there are 3 red balls located on his shoulder plate and chest. It could be the source of his space and time ability.

Like an ancient knight, his forearms and shoulders are protected by guards that are well decorated by gold lining details that gives him the kind of imperial outlook.

There are also extruded pegs on the armor of his forearm which you can attach mini-con to it.

The same type of gold lining details can be found on his belt. Other than those, there are other details in brown on his chest. The most impressive has to be those that are at the side of his waist, they are very small details that looks like space and stars which could mean day and night.

Look at the amount of molded gear design here on his nosecone. There are gear details in gold in the inner layer as well as the greyish white gear details on the outside.

There are armor on his legs too. Similarly decorated like others mentioned before.

Vector Prime's main weapon is a transparent green sword and it is well hidden at the right edge of the nosecone.

The cybertron knight drawing out his sword. I wonder what is his relation with the recent AOE Silver Knight Optimus Prime.

The sword is made from rubbery translucent plastic similar to the ones used on the wings. There are some unpainted details on the lower end of the sword where the guard is.

Vector Prime showing off his sword.

A closer look.

It is a pity that his lack of articulation around his wrist had resisted him from posing to what I had in mind. He is only able to held his sword upright or downwards as seen below.

Also, his shoulder guards might looks cool but they are too huge and are getting in the way when I try to articulate his arm to various position.

Vector Prime & Safeguard:

As mentioned earlier, Safeguard in his plane mode can be attached to the pegs on his forearm guards.

Safeguard can add firepower to Vector Prime.

Summary:

Being the guardian of time and space as well as one of the direct creation from Primus, Vector Prime has been rewarded with some of the most amazing details that came out of the Galaxy Force series. Evidence can be seen in the form of sharp molded gear details on his spacecraft nosecone as well as those smaller details (stars and space) around his chest. They are what I see as a generous gift from the designer. His paint apps are also well coordinated to give him that imperial outlook that matches well with his high cybertron ranking.

Despite the positives in his outlook, his playability is somehow a letdown due to the lack of force ignition gimmicks (other than sound), predictable transformation as well as the lack of articulation in key areas. In my opinion, only the inclusion of safeguard prevent him from going rock bottom. All in all, Vector Prime will make a good piece for display in your cabinet but not a figure that you can play with.
