This review follow up with last week's review. By the time you see this,
the toy had been gone. So here we are, the pictures hours before it got
sold.
Longarm appeared as a tow truck that saved Bumblebee when his legs got torn off towards the end of the 2007 Movie. In that scene, it is this truck that Mikaela steals and used it to help out Bumblebee by hooking him to the tow truck and pulls him out of danger. Subsequently, she reversed the truck and drove Bumblebee to fight off the Decepticons.
Vehicle Mode:
Longarm's alternate mode was modeled after Ford F-350 tow truck. The truck never got transformed since it was not a transfromer then. It only came to life during the battle of all Spark which was not part of the 2007 movie.
The replicate shares much similarities to the actual truck in the movie. The crane work well with attached hooks that can move up and down. One can actually re-enact the scene if you have a bumblebee. Of cos that is if you have one that had the legs torn off. :D
There are some good detailing on the back bed section where you can find cross hatching on the suppose steel grill tracks for vehicle landing. One thing for me that Hasbro needs to improve is the stand structure for the emergency lights. It doesn't blend well to the front cab and it makes the lights protrudes too much out like a rabbit's ears.
The only main differences to me has to be the decal on the side doors. In the movie, it was printed as Mike's towing while the toy had it printed as Orson's towing. The number below the wordings were also missing. Not quite sure if the number is real or there is really a towing company called Mike's towing.
Transformation:
There is not much difficulty in transformation in this one. Legs hidden under the bonnet and arms from the back section. This type of transformation can be seen from many others. The only unique thing is the crane where it can be transform into a cannon.
Transformation from the crane to the canon is a neat touch. I also like the way the emergency lights turn into part of the cannon.
Robot mode:
Longarm looks a bit short and slouchy in my opinion. I wished it had better feet as the ones he had looks like he is wearing diving fins. I had better things to say on the upper body. The side panels of the vehicle were folded nicely and forms the shoulder area.
Please tell me why the canon is non detachable. I heard it can be removed but I never try it. Frustrating stuff here.
No much detailing from the back. It looks quite bulky on the upper body from the back. Waist looks rather thin. Hourglass figure???
There are some good detailing on the chest similar to what we had previously on the back bed section in vehicle mode.
The head is nicely sculpted. It reminds me of an Egyptian cat. The eyes are transparent and looks like glowing when there is light emitting from the back of the head.
