This week's review will be on Revoltech's Macross series Super Valkyrie VF-1
Box Art:
The toy is packed in the standard white orange box with a frontal window to display the toy inside.
The frontal window allow you to examine the paint apps before buying since it can be sloppy at times. The back of the box shows pictures of the figure pose in different ways. Cool!
VF-1J with some of his accessories displayed. They included one gun pod, two booster packs, two propellant tanks, two arm-mounted missile pods, four wing-mounted missile pods, five option hands (not display), and a display stand (not display). The base seen here is not included.
This earlier version that was released back in 2007 is the non transformable version. None the less, it is still fun to play with especially with the multiple revoltech joints that allow you to recreate the scenes in the anime series.
The figure itself stands at a height of 4.8" which is pretty small compared to the figures from Figurearts and Bandai. Revoltech did however made up some ground by giving us well proportioned figures that is packed with surprising amount of articulations and with all the various accessories that comes along, playability is endless.
The head:
A closer look at his head and you will realize that the sculpt itself is not prefect. Same for the paint apps and the finer details, clearly not neat or properly defined.
The head is held by a joint that allow it to rotate sideways as well as up and down.
Gimmicks:
The back of the figure is where the wings are. They can be folded (left) or spread (right).
More pictures with different pose:
Super Valkyrie VF-1J getting ready for battle! Here, you see him posed with his clenched fist options.
Super Valkyrie VF-1J holding his gun pod. I am using a mixture of 2 different hand options.
These are the 2 often seen pose from the TV series.
Taking aim ready to fire!
Next week: More of Super Valkyrie VF-1J with his add-ons.
