This week, we have Undermine from Galaxy Force series.
Undermine comes from the Jungle Planet where the characters took their alternate mode as robotic beast. For Undermine, his beast mode is a Spinosaurus or 'Spine lizard', the largest dinosaur that ever walk on earth even larger than T-Rex. You would expect him to be huge and powerful but Ironically, he is only a scout class size figure.
Undermine's color scheme is mainly in shades of green with bits of gold, grey and red on some small details. The 2 greens used are contrasting to one another with one that is neon green on his limbs and sail which gives me the impression that it will glow in the dark (sadly not the case) and the other is a darker tone yet bright green mainly on his body and tail. You can also find a small print of the Decepticon logo on his left thigh.
Undermine might be small but he is packed with great amount of molded details from his neck all the way to his tail. Many details are not organic which comprises of piping, mechanical joints, panels showing that he is indeed a robotic dinosaurs.
Front and Back view
Side view
Undermine's tail comes in multiple segments so that it can be bend and pose in different way. At the end of tail is a round spike ball that is in grey. This tail can be detached and would be Undermine's weapon in his robot mode.
Details:
A closer look at areas that really make him standout.
At first glance, the head sculpt looks some way off from Spinosaurs. Spinosaurs has a narrow long snout but Undermine has fuller round and short snout. The color chosen for his head is in neon green with his eyes and mouth (bits of the inside) in red. There is a joint at his jaw that allows him to open his mouth. Seems to me that there is something in his mouth but I do not know what its use for.
Undermine's limbs are joined by silver rivets and they are colored mainly in similar neon green as his head, with only the mid section of his lower limbs is in dark green and grey. His crawls are painted in gold and you can see from the picture that each crawl is separated and shaped very similar to how a real dinosaur would had.
The sail design like his head is different from the original Spinosaurs. It looks more like a fish fin than a dino sail to me. The sail end is straight but this is probably due to the gimmick hidden there.
Force Gimmick:
Like all other Galaxy Force figures, Undermine had a Force ignition gimmick too. Check it out.
Undermine's Force ignition key slot is located at the backside of his sail. His key which is a Jungle planet type is green in color with silver decoration that looks like a crawl around it.
Upon ignition, a grey blade springs out from his sail and sits behind his head.
Look at him roar and ready to attack.
In terms of playability, Undermine will certainly top the list. Not only is he having multiple joints on his limbs for you to twist and turn, his mouth can be open or close too. His body weight is well balanced and well supported by his feet that holds well without toppling in different pose.
Transformation:
Transformation is easy. You can figure this out from the above picture.
Robot mode next week:
Next week we will see more of Landbullet in his robot mode.
