Movie 2007 Jazz

This review pays tribute to the 2007 Transformers Movie where Jazz end the show in 2 pieces.

Left: Megatron rips Jazz in half
Right: Optimus Prime cradles the body of Jazz in the aftermath of the battle in Mission City.

Vehicle Mode:

Jazz choose the Pontiac Solstice hardtop as his alternate form when he landed on earth.

In vehicle mode, Jazz looks very compact and "solid". There seems to be a lot of plastic somewhere for this small deluxe. The grey body has a lighter tone compared to the Pontiac Solstice.

The transparent blue windows looks very outstanding and goes well with the overall grey body. If the head and rear lights are transparent too, it will look very much complete.

On the front bonnet, there are far too many part lines with the most obvious right in the middle. There is a noticeable red "V" shape logo at the front of the bonnet which represents the actual Pontiac logo.

Jazz's blaster can be attached to the car's spoiler. No such thing in the movie though. This should be where mectech idea comes from.

When detached, the tip of the barrel can be extended to become a sniper rifle.

Transformation

Transformation is direct. It is not necessary to refer to the instructions for this one. The easy way to spot where to open up is to look where all the part lines are. They are quite obvious, too many I should say. The way how the arms are transformed is quite unique but the outcome is not quite pretty.

Robot Mode:

Jazz looks rather short and "fat" in robot mode. A large amount of plastic mentioned earlier goes to the lower limbs. They are indeed solid. The arms are badly design and doesn't quite stay in place. To be exact, the upper limbs are rather "thin" while the lower limbs are pretty solid.

The spoiler section can be detached to form a shield. This can be attached to the shoulder like what I did below.

The upper body seems short. It looks as if Jazz's chest goes direct to the torso.

Front of the bonnet looks good in detail. Looks very much like the G1 counterpart.

More detailing on the upper section of the body. Surely a good place for dry brushing to bring out the essence. Too bad they are all in black.

I seriously do not know what Hasbro is thinking. The long ears are too long for my liking.

Even more detailing at the legs and a closer look at the hands of Jazz. Hasty work for that.

The designer to Jazz must be paying a lot of attention to the details. There are just so much of detailing. If he had done the same to the upper limbs and the design of the toy, we might find ourselves a very well made toy.

Jazz without the shield look.

The rifle looks awkward when attached to the arm.

In all, I do appreciate the large amount of detailing to this Jazz but I would rather hope that he could pay more attention to some of the design especially how the arms were transformed and also the head. Not recommended.
