This week will continue with the Galaxy Force Starscream in robot mode.
First Impression in Robot mode:
This version of Starscream in my opinion has to be the best Starscream design to date. His cybertronian robot mode looks fearsome and wicked. He looks especially sleek with the shoulders bend up together with the sharp small fins at the end of it.
There are quite a bit of black portions on the rear especially his upper body. He looks as if he is wearing a black inner suit with heavily armory on the outside of his arms and lower legs.
Front and Back
From this view, the proportions of Starscream looks to be a little off. This upper body and forearms are short compared to his legs which looks rather long. Same thing for the nosecone which looks ridiculous long protruding so much until his knee level.
Notice the Force ignition inlet slot is located behind his head. Also there are some transparent purple parts behind his side arms.
Let's look in details why this is by far my favorite Starscream.
Headshot
The head and face design of this GF Starscream is truly a masterpiece grade. He looks very serious almost like a cold blooded serial killer. You could also felt a sense of deceptiveness within his deep sunken red eyes as if he is plotting something in his head. His features are sharp and the black head gear (an upgrade of his G1 self) are well defined.
Left: Closer look at the added bulkiness to his side arms
Right: Chest details. It is such a pity that the side turrets cannot be rotated.
Legs details. Fully armored on the lower leg areas.
You might already notice about the added bulkiness at the side of his arms. In my opinion, adding bulkiness to a figure is easy but adding bulkiness and looking almighty at the same time is not easy (just ask Landbullet).
For him, we can see the designer added a ton of armory to his shoulders and arms to make him look bulky. If you think that's all, well the designer brilliantly added a joint that enable his shoulders to lift up to create a 'V' shape upper body resulting in a significant change in his appearance.
Best Starscream design to date!
Starscream comes with a blaster.
Starscream looks menacing with his blaster.
Force ignition inlet is right behind his head. What does it activates?
Starcream's Force Ignition key is unlike others, his had no planets symbols, only a Decepticon logo. The picture on the right shows upon ignition, the energon swords that are hidden beneath both side of his arms springs out into attach mode.
The gimmick might look nice at first but since it is attached to his side arms, articulation is almost zero meaning that it can only point downwards. What a waste.
Here's a closer look at the nice details on his Energon blades.
Starscream has good articulation on his lower body but not his upper body. This is due to the bulkiness of his shoulders that restrict his movement in the arms area.
Summary
Despite the lack of articulation and strange body proportions, I still think that this Galaxy Force Starscream design looks the best in both his spacecraft and robot mode.
Starscream with his fellow comrades. Together they can rule Cybertron!
